Large Plastic Recycling Plant in Algeria Now in Operation

The largest polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic recycling plant in Algeria opened its doors at the end of September 2022 in Oggaz, 65 km from Mascara

This major industrial project for the recycling of PP and HDPE plastic waste, generating growth and employment, located in the industrial zone of Oggaz, will reduce environmental pollution and help the country to catch up with its very remarkable delay in terms of plastic recycling.
According to reports an investment of more than 100 billion centimes was spent by El Kader Plast factory, that installed a recycling equipment plant on a plot of 2,000 square meters.
Uptp 500 direct positions and more than a thousand indirect positions were on the table. "In collaboration with the ALEM (local employment agency), it is the young people in particular from the municipality of Oggaz and other neighboring regions who will be recruited as a priority", the manager of the factory said.
The plant, described as "the largest recycling plant in Africa", is equipped with a complete line, with a daily capacity of 40 tons (i.e. 2000 kg/hour), will make it possible to recycle plastic waste polypropylene (PP) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) plastics per day (i.e. 2,000 kg/hour). The 70% of recycled plastic granules, of very high quality, supply the national and international market of the plastic transformation industry.
The 30% will be for the second production capacity unit of 30 pallets and pallet boxes per hour. In order to reduce the problem of plastic waste which is more acute in Algeria and to support industrial activity in the region, the authorities of the wilaya, it has been noted, have contributed to the birth of this equipment. which contributes to the improvement of the living conditions of citizens through the elimination of waste and the creation of jobs. “We had no difficulty in realizing our environmental investment.
